Learnings from today

I am trying to compile Terms of Trade for the business as a whole and I’ve realised two or maybe three things.

1. Parent was right – I should have been a lawyer.

2. Then-boyfriend was also right – just because I like to argue doesn’t mean I’m any good at this stuff.

3. I freaking hate this legal shit. What if I miss something out?

4. I’m not paid enough for this crap.

5. Maths maybe isn’t my strong point. Good thing I only analyse the numbers, right? Right?

Stitching has taken a back seat this week. Training plus my birthday on Monday, cadets and plantingTuesday, more training Wednesday and walking last night has meant today is my only stitching time. Lots of reading tho!

We have nearly finished the retaining wall (just the capping for extra seating) hence the planting – now have Liriope Silver Dragon (from Dianes as the chain stores don’t carry and wouldn’t order) lining both sides of the driveway and Carex varieties lining where the path meets the retaining wall. And a beautiful Boysenberry Brulee to train up the post that the shade sails will connect to http://www.edible.co.nz/fruits.php?fruitid=51 It sounds odd when reading the description and parentage, but also yummy.

Next garden project (as we will be waiting on the soil delivery so can’t buy or plant the remaining fruit trees I want) is a pallet wall garden for the herbs and strawberrys that will be fixed to the brick wall between the ranch slider and lounge window. Did discover that the local Palmers (Glen Eden) is closing this weekend but their specials match the day-to-day pricing at Rogers. That means the only “local” places are Kings or Dianes in the back of Henderson Valley. Dianes is great for local knowledge – I can ask anything and don’t feel stupid at all!

This weekend I am looking at migrating the blog to WordPress as Blogger is really annoying me – but will post the link.

Two more sleeps

to Dawn Service!

Tonight we went to the War Memorial Museum to watch the restored film. It’s becoming a bit of a tradition, but you have to be in quick as its only shown for a few nights.

This year’s shows some of the WWI soldiers marching in desert & field conditions, socialising, and being transported to war. Hearing them joke and knowing how few came home? Chills.

Christmas Day

It has been an absolutely fantastic Christmas Day, apart from Mase’s ear infection and the Skype failing when we wanted to talk to Hong Kong. Photos and more commentary soon, but Merry Christmas to you and yours, and may you feel God’s blessings fall on you.

December Daily – the start

This year I’m going to try to complete a December Daily album, a la Ali Edwards. The general thought was to use more of what I already have, but I have grabbed a Kaisercraft album as my base. I wanted something a bit more sturdy as my boys aren’t too gentle on things. So here’s my basic list. Thank goodness I have a month to pull the base pages together as I think I’ll need all the time I can get! I’ll also pre-make some embelishments to go over some of the photos I plan to take.

Supply list: Kaisercraft album – Christmas Journal SB143 (templates here); Letters – American Crafts Thickers, Making Memories Heidi white (rub-on); Ribbons – American Craft Premium Christmas range (the rolls), Kikki-K (red gingham), green unknown; Rub-ons – One Heart One Mind (song phrases), Karen Foster (merry phrases), American Traditional (dear santa); Stamps – letter set unknown, 7 Gypsies (parenthesis stamper), Versacolour ink pads.
Misc – Basic Grey motifica tags, K&Co Elizabeth Brownd metal art, chipboard embelishments (from NZ Scrapbook co), Provo Craft sticker borders, Kaisercraft rhinestones, Spotlight silver mesh stars, SEI pearl brads, Whitcoulls gift tags & tree cutout (it was used in-store last year), own cookie cutters, paint (for album edges) Resene half spanish (what i’m using for my walls!).

I need to sort thru the paper stash still but I will try to list things, at least when I post the pages up.
